How to Fix Bald Spots in Your Yard From Pets
If you have a pet that uses the bathroom outside, you know how that leaves brown, unsightly spots in your yard. This video will show you how to get your lawn looking and staying healthy again.

- Use a rake to dig out the dead grass, usually it will come up easily, leaving you with the soil underneath.
- Spread Lime over the spot. Due to the acidity in your pets urine, you need the Lime to take some of that acidity out of the soil so that your grass will be able to grow.
- Cover the affected areas with a healthy layer of top soil.
- Spread grass seed over the top soil, just a light layer, you don’t want to crowd the seeds or they won’t take.
- Add another layer of soil over the grass seed, just barely covering the seeds. It’s ok if you can still see the grass seed a little.
- Now you can water it and if you want add a bit of fertilizer to help it along.
A few things to remember, you want to watch your pets when they’re outside to make sure they don’t dig up the area, ruining your work. Also, you want to make sure no one is walking over the area until the grass starts to grow back.

Does your faucet keep leaking after you turn the knob to cut your water off? Are you tempted to call someone who can help you fix it? Why call when you can do it yourself? It’s an easy and inexpensive way to fix the problem.

Step 1
Above all else, you want to go underneath the sink that you are fixing and TURN THE WATER OFF. This step is number one for a reason. You turn the water off by looking underneath the sink, and you should see two knobs. One knob is for the hot water, and the other is for the cold water. Twist the two knobs until the water shuts off. If you are using your bare hands and the knobs don’t seem to turn, you should use pliers to get a grip and twist the knobs until the water is completely off.
Step 2
With a regular screwdriver or something with a strong metal flat surface, use this to pop off the caps on the top of the two handles representing hot and cold. (the knobs right beside the faucet).
Step 3
Now that the caps are off the two handles, you should see a screw in the middle of the handle. With a screwdriver, unscrew both handles until the handle is completely taken off.
Step 4
Using a crescent wrench, grip the left silver ring and simply twist it off. That should leave the stem. It looks like a bolt-type thing but what you do now is merely pull it out. Use pliers to pull it if you have to.
Step 5
Try to fish out the grommet (a small black ring) and a spring with a screwdriver.
Step 6
Gather your grommet, spring, and the bolt type thing you had to pull out in step 4 and simply buy an extra set of these to replace the faucet. You can find these at your local hardware store. If you have to go to your hardware store, be sure to know the brand of your faucet, and the customer service person will help you.
Step 7
Gather your new supplies. Pair a grommet and spring together. Make sure you have the bottom side of the spring facing down (the wide part facing down) (it is best to use your palm) and the side of the grommet with the walls-cover the spring.
Step 8
Now that you’ve paired and put the grommet over the spring, next, you drop them in the hole in the sink part that the knobs go in. This is where the flashlight comes in. If you can’t see where the hole is, simply have someone hold the flashlight, or you can hold it and feel for the hole. Once you find it, drop the grommet and spring in the hole.
Step 9
Put the bolts back in (the things you pulled out in step 4). The flat part should be facing down.
Step 10
With your bare hands this time, twist the metal rings back on over the bolts and tighten them with a crescent wrench.
Step 11
Put the turn handles back on and over the bolts, and with a screwdriver, screw the handles back on so they fit in place without the knobs being able to pull them off quickly.
Step 12
Put the caps back on the top of the handle/knobs and simply go underneath the sink and turn the water back on.
Tips and Hints
Make sure you turn off the water if the valve isn’t under the sink, then turn it off at your main water supply.
To keep from scratching the finish on your faucet or handles, you can place a cloth around them when taking them off and putting them back on.
